Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Support Team

In order to assure continued capacity development in addressing the disability related school learning needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the least restrictive setting, Clinton County Regional Educational Service Agency (CCRESA) provides on-going training and outreach support to ASD building coaches using the Statewide Autism Resources and Training (START) Project model as a basis for service delivery. This team is comprised of ASD Support Team Consultants and an ASD Support Team Assistant. The ASD Support Team also increases learning and study of ASD support through additional CCRESA collaborative efforts with ASD Building Coaches. Each school within Clinton County has an ASD Building Coach who attends regularly scheduled training on content, facilitation, coaching, leadership, and teaming, and then provides this knowledge on autism to staff in their resident district building.

When special local assistance is requested to address more challenging service problems, the ASD Support Team further supports the local coach with in-depth, brief, on-site consultation and staff training. In this role, the ASD Support Team offers substantial assistance in a number of ways. They assist more productively defining essential problems, collecting and analyzing data for better decision making, and initial installation of relevant universal supports. Training is provided, as needed, to assist competent delivery of evidence-based interventions that more successfully address locally identified areas of critical importance to local staff service delivery.
